A card should be sent to parents informing them when they are due. However if you have recently moved into the area or feel your children are overdue please contact the surgery to make an appointment.
Confidential advice is available from your doctor and from our Practice Nurses.
We offer and encourage regular cervical smears between the ages of 25 and 65 years of age for patients who are registered with the Practice.
We offer and encourage quick and simple chlamydia testing. If you are sexually active aged between 16 and 25 years please book to see the Practice Nurse.
We particularly recommend this for patients who are 65 or over and those with heart, chest or kidney disease, diabetes and other chronic diseases.
The ‘flu’ vaccination programme normally takes place annually in September.
If you have Asthma, Diabetes, Hypertension, Heart Disease, or are on regular medication you may be asked to make an annual appointment to discuss your ongoing condition with your doctor. This is to monitor your progress and review your medication in order to provide you with the best care possible.
The surgery also offers over 75's annual check ups. If you are aged between 16 and 75 years and have not been seen by a doctor in the last 3 years, you are entitled to an appointment with our nurse.
The travel clinic service is a service that we provide as a surgery. The clinics are provided on Friday afternoons at Sussex Place and The Village Medical Centre. They are two hour clinics, notwithstanding nurses being on holiday or sickness in which case there may not be a clinic. The travel clinic service is provided as a service to the benefit to our patients, however it is not mandatory for us to provide travel vaccinations to each and every single person travelling abroad.
Because we have a large number of people who are frequently travelling abroad, it is not uncommon for the travel clinics to become fully booked. If that is the case, unfortunately patients will then be asked to attend a local private clinic either at Stoke Poges or at the BA Travel Clinic. Again to note because the clinic is so busy, we would recommend leaving at least 3 months to get your vaccines organised before going on holiday. All the vaccines we give will last for the duration of your holiday if you get them done that early.
We try to provide the most convenient form of current vaccines that we can, but sometimes because of supply problems we are unable to do so. If you have a particular preference for a certain type of travel vaccine and we do not have it, you will be asked to go to the appropriate travel clinic, who can then address your needs.
Some travel vaccines can cause side effects or interact with medicines that you may need to take on holiday. It is for that reason, under a month before the date of departure we will decline to offer vaccination.
We ask patients to telephone after 10.30 a.m. for their results as many of our results do not return until later on in the morning.
In order to maintain confidentiality results can only be given to the patient concerned or parents/guardians of children.
Only broad details can be given over the phone, i.e. normal, tests need repeating, please see the doctor etc. The receptionists are not trained to interpret the result.
If you do not understand a comment or are worried please speak to the doctor concerned.
Medical examinations for HGV and PSV licences, and any medicals for pre-employment are not paid for by the NHS. The Practice charge the fee set by the British Medical Association.
Examinations of this nature take time so please tell the Receptionist the purpose of the visit so they can book the appropriate amount of time. Payment is required on booking and will not be refunded should you fail to attend without prior cancellation.
The number of forms Doctors are being asked to complete is growing rapidly.
A charge will be made for the completion of most forms, please ask at Reception.
It is not always necessary to book an appointment with the doctor for forms to be completed. Please leave any forms with the receptionist along with your details and payment. If an appointment is required the receptionist will contact you.
We are a Training Practice and as such you may see a trainee doctor who is qualified but who is completing their training and they may sit in on consultations with Doctors and Nurses at the Practice.
Please see the notice board for more details.
